 Hartley Elected Board President, Anderson VP

The San Diego County Board of Education has picked its new officers for 2014.

Susan Hartley will be president of the board. She has been on the board since 2002 and previously served as president in 2011. She represents the area which runs along the coast from Del Mar to Camp Pendleton.

Mark Anderson will serve as vice president throughout 2014. He has been a board member since 2008, representing a large portion of the county that stretches from Vista to the eastern county line and from Lakeside to the northern boundary.

The San Diego County Board of Education consists of five members. Each represents a different trustee area and is selected by voters there.

The board sets policy for the San Diego County Office of Education, which provides a wide range of services to the county's 42 school districts and five community college districts.
