Students’ Artistic Side on Display at SDCOE

Art work from students throughout the county will be on display through May 28 at the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) main campus.

The 56 pieces of art were submitted by students at seven elementary and middle schools and include colored pencil, tempera paint, collage and other mixed mediums. The exhibition was organized by the San Diego County Art Education Association and SDCOE’s Visual and Performing Arts Unit.

There were about twice as many submissions this year as there were last year.

The art is on display in Building 3 on the SDCOE campus at 6401 Linda Vista Road in San Diego. It will be up until May 28, when there will be a reception for parents, teachers and students at 5:30 p.m.

Having the work on display is good for students as well as employees and visitors, said Russ Sperling, visual and performing arts coordinator with the SDCOE.

It’s a great opportunity for students to be able to display their art , which can help encourage them to create more. Meanwhile, the art helps spruce up the building, he said.
