County Superintendent Statement on State Budget Revise

ā€‹ā€‹Dr. Randy Ward, San Diego County Superintendent of Schools, released the following statement today after Governor Jerry Brown unveiled the 2014 state budget May revise:

Governor Brown is very prudent to continue his focus on paying down debt with this May revise of the state budget. For too many years, schools have served as the piggy bank for the state, so it is reassuring to see continued progress towards paying back the funds that have been borrowed and deferred. It is also gratifying that the governor is making good on his commitment to restore school funding to 2007-2008 levels through the Local Control Funding Formula. We are hopeful that Governor Brown and the Legislature will provide the necessary resources to fund the hard and expensive work ahead of us in implementing the Common Core State Standards.
