La Jolla High Wins Academic League Championship

A team of students from La Jolla High School is this year's winner of the Academic League County Championship.

The students from La Jolla High beat out the other finalist team from Olympian High at the April 23 event, which aired live on iTV Cable Channel 16. The other schools competing in the semifinals April 23 were Helix High and Torrey Pines High.

Academic League forces students to compete against the clock as well as each other. The timed competition has five members from each team work together, buzzing in to answer questions and collaborating on bonus questions.

During the season leading up to the finals, more than 70 high schools throughout the county participated in the Academic League competitions.

The Academic League finals will be rebroadcast on iTV Cable Channel 16 at 7 p.m. April 30. The semifinal matches will air at 10 a.m. May 2 (Helix vs. Olympian) and 2 p.m. May 3 (La Jolla vs. Torrey Pines).
