Come Celebrate Student Leaders at the 2016 Laurels for Leaders Luncheon

The Washington-Lincoln Laurels for Leaders program has been honoring the achievements of Associated Student Body (ASB) presidents in San Diego County for 59 years, bringing this dynamic group of young leaders together once a year for one of the largest gatherings of ASB presidents in the nation.

The 2016 Laurels for Leaders program will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at San Diego State University’s Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union (5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182). School leaders, community leaders, and parents are invited to share in this special day.

For the ASB Presidents, the program will begin with a financial literacy workshop titled, “Conquering Credit: The Do’s and Don’ts of Keeping Your Credit Squeaky Clean,” presented by US Bank. Students will learn how to establish a solid credit history, avoid identity theft, what to do when good credit runs bad and what drives a FICO score. The workshop will assist student leaders in establishing good financial habits which will last a lifetime.

Laurels for Leaders is also very fortunate to have partnered with the Blanchard Institute to offer a Student Situational Self Leadership workshop. At this dynamic morning event, the ASB presidents and their advisors will learn a set of skills that will stay with them their entire lives. Self leadership is about taking control, taking the lead, and taking responsibility for actions and committing to accomplishing goals.

Following the workshop, Laurels for Leaders will host a luncheon in the main hall from 11:45 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m. The cost of the luncheon is $35 per person.

If you plan to attend, please register online by Dec. 18, 2015. You may elect to sponsor a student and, if you do so, we will ask that you sit with that student and participate by presenting the award to him or her. If you are unable to attend, you may still remit a tax-deductible donation that will sponsor a student’s luncheon and we will arrange for another appropriate individual to present that student’s award on your behalf.

The members of Laurels for Leaders appreciate the support you give our young leaders throughout the school year and look forward to meeting you at the luncheon in their honor on February 17.
