Getting to Know SDCOE: Program Secretary Brings Positivity and Professionalism

Amanda Holt brings positivity and professionalism to her work every day, her co-workers say.

That's part of why she was honored as the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Classified Employee of the Month for August.

The Mental and Emotional Wellness team nominated Holt, a program secretary who's been with SDCOE nearly 2 years.

"Amanda brings an air of positivity and professionalism to our team every day," they said in the nomination.

The team said that Holt's high level of service helps them provide at least 50 trainings a year to more than 2,000 educators. She also has worked closely with SDCOE technology experts to develop and refine multiple email lists to maximize the team's outreach efforts.

Holt said the most rewarding part of her job is working in a positive environment with a dedicated team. She landed her first job in education in 1984, and she finds "education to be the most worthwhile and rewarding sector to be a part of."

When she's not at work, Holt enjoys walking, yoga, reading, watching Jeopardy!, baking, and playing with her granddaughter. Holt was born and raised in England and maintains British citizenship. Since coming to the United States in 1981, she has lived in Connecticut, Arizona, Rhode Island, Virginia, Maine, and California.
