Getting to Know SDCOE: TV Tech Spreads Positivity at SDCOE

Tom Dulaney is known around the San Diego County Office of Education for his cheery, can-do attitude. That's part of why he was honored as the Classified Employee of the Month for November.

"Tom is always professional during all his daily interactions with us in Leadership and Learning Services.  He accommodates any special requests and jumps to assist any of us when needed. All of his actions and interactions speak to his integrity, professionalism, and consideration of others." – Alicia Moyer and Terry Barrón said in their nomination form.

Tom has been a permanent SDOCE employee for five years, though he has worked here in temporary or limited ways going all the way back to 1992. He recently joined the iTV Cable 16 team after spending years with Maintenance and Operations.

He said he enjoys his new role as a television operations technician because of the positive impact he's able to have on educational programming that enriches the lives of children and adults. He's happy to work with co-workers who share a common culture of going above and beyond to support students and their education.

"I have observed my co-workers on many occasions and in many ways, putting forth extra effort to further student's education, both directly and indirectly," he said. "Through myriad smaller individual efforts, the SDCOE workforce makes the larger mission function."

In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time at home with his family, restoring muscle cars, and building sheds for car parts. He has been involved with the Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego, San Diego Media Pros, and American Motors Owners Association.
