High school students who serve on Election Day bring an element of excitement and a fresh perspective to the polls.
To be eligible for the Poll Worker Program, students must be 16 years of age by Election Day, Nov. 6; have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; and be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
The County of San Diego also requires students to obtain written permission from their school and a parent or guardian, and to complete four hours of training, including an online training and an in-person classroom session. Student poll workers who complete their Election Day training receive a signed certificate and a stipend.
