California Coast Credit Union was founded in 1929 by local educators, and the non-profit Cal Coast Cares Foundation was created in 2015 to support teachers and students throughout San Diego and Riverside Counties to help them on their path to success. In celebration of the credit union’s 90th milestone anniversary, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation will provide $90,000 in scholarships to college bound high school seniors and students that are in, or have been, in the foster care system. An additional $25,000 in grants will be awarded to local teachers for qualified classroom projects.
The Cal Coast Cares Foundation recognizes that teachers play a pivotal role in students’ academic and career success. Educator grants will also be provided to teachers in K-12 public, private or charter schools, community and state colleges and universities teaching any of the STREAM fields (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Grant funds can be used to purchase equipment, project materials, and other educational resources that supplement their classroom programs, enhance learning, and promote student achievement.
The educator grant deadline is Friday, Aug. 9, 2019. Apply for an educator grant through the Cal Coast Cares website.
