Students from four local high schools will compete on live TV tonight for the Academic League County Championship.
The two semifinal matches and final round will begin airing at 3:30 p.m. on iTV Cable Channel 16. The competition will also be live tweeted by @SanDiegoCOE using #academicleague.
For the past few months, students at schools across the county have participated in the timed competition, which has five members from each team working together, buzzing in to answer questions, and collaborating on bonus questions.
The schools competing in the semifinals are Valhalla High, The Bishop's School, Canyon Crest Academy, and Olympian High. They represent the four regions of the county: east, metro, north, and south, respectively.
Questions in the competition come from math, science, history, and literature. Using the fast-paced format of toss-up questions and immediate answers, Academic League forces students to compete against the clock as well as each other.
ITV aired Academic League matches each week beginning in March up through the championship round airing tonight (May 2) on channel 16.
