Inspiring and leading innovation in education

Ernie Ludwig selected as 2013 San Diego County Office of Education Classified Employee of the Year

Ernie Ludwig has worked as an Outdoor Education Program Specialist for the last twenty-five years. As such, he has touched the lives of tens of thousands of students who have attended the week-long outdoor education program.

His colleagues, supervisor and visiting teachers have nothing but praise for his work. As his supervisor Greg Schuett states, “teachers who bring their 6th grade students to us year after year might say he is a living legend at their school because older brothers and sisters pass along descriptions of their experiences with Ludwig and the impact that he had on them during their memorable week at Cuyamaca Outdoor School.” Gary Wilson, the Superintendent/Principal at San Pasqual Union School District shares that, “he works hard to provide a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience for his students.” Dustin Burns, a colleague as well as a board member at the Santee School District explains, “Ludwig has dedicated his life to providing the highest quality of instruction for his students, and a commitment to go above and beyond any personal and professional expectations.”

The Outdoor Education Program staff is excited that Ludwig is receiving the recognition of SDCOE Classified Employee of the Year. As the SDCOE winner, he is now representing the SDCOE in the countywide classified employee competition.

As always, our Classified Employee-of-the-Year Selection Committee had a tough decision to make as we are fortunate to have many outstanding staff members on our team.
