Innovations Academy of Empowerment, one of the San Diego County Office of Education's Juvenile Court and Community Schools, was closed on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, due to flooding.
The school, which is located on a campus belonging to the Vista Unified School District, serves about 120 students from throughout North County in grades 7 through 12 who are referred by local school districts or probation. Innovations Academy of Empowerment opened in 2014, combining classes that used to be held at four separate locations. By bringing these students together on a larger campus, educators are able to give them a more typical educational experience while still offering them the extra attention they need. The educational program integrates blended learning, classroom instruction and independent study. Elective classes include robotics, art, horticulture, and career planning.
