 Pence School Donates to Locks of Love

Pence School students holding braids of cut hair for Locks of LoveStudents, teachers, and parents at Pence Elementary School (South Bay Union School District) gathered last month to help children suffering from hair loss by hosting a donation event to support Locks of Love.

A total of 21 ponytails, measuring 22.33 feet, were collected. The longest ponytail, measuring 22 inches, was donated by fourth grade student Zulema Fowler and the youngest donation came from Kindergarten student, Rosa Gamino Mora. All hair donated to Locks of Love will be used to create wigs for children suffering from Alopecia Areata or for those that have experienced hair loss from radiation therapy and chemotherapy, severe burns or trauma, and various other genetic and dermatological conditions.

Locks of Love is a 501(c)(3) organization assists finanacially disadvantaged children return a sense of self, confidence, and normalcy.
