Top-achieving spring athletic teams throughout the San Diego Section, along with the highest-achieving athletes on the honored teams, have been recognized by Cymer and the CIF San Diego Section.
The CIF All-Academic Teams honor the school teams in each sport and region with the highest, combined, un-weighted grade point average. From each of those teams, Cymer honors the junior or senior with the highest, cumulative, weighted high school grade point average. Those students are known as Cymer Scholars.
More than 1,200 male and female athletes comprise the honored teams, in the sports of softball; baseball; boys and girls track and field; boys golf; girls and boys lacrosse; boys tennis and volleyball; girls and boys swim and dive; and girls gymnastics. The five regions of the San Diego Section are north, south, metro, east and inland/Imperial.
“The CIF San Diego Section All Academic Teams honor outstanding young people, as well as their teachers, coaches and families,” said CIF San Diego Section Commissioner Jerry Schniepp. “We’re very pleased to have the support of a great company like Cymer to honor high-achieving athletes. All these athletes should be very proud, and their coaches, teachers and families should be proud, too.”
“These outstanding student-athletes who are being honored for their exceptional achievements represent the next generation of brilliant minds who will be called on to make the world a better place in part through advances in technology, “ said Blake Miller, Cymer vice president of Corporate Marketing. “Congratulations, and we look forward to your contributions in the years ahead.”
