Career-Tech Collaboration Helps Teachers Build Lessons

Career technical education (CTE) teachers have an opportunity to connect and collaborate with others across the region who teach the same courses as part of a new online learning opportunity from the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE).

"These meetings empower CTE teachers to offer high-quality, career-ready learning opportunities that are flexible enough to meet the needs of our new reality," said Jewyl Clarke, integrated curriculum coordinator with SDCOE.

The CTE Sector Collaboration meetings will focus on how CTE teachers can best adapt courses for blended and distance learning. They will include breakout rooms for different pathways in each of the 15 industry sectors.

Attendees will work together to conceptualize units and curate lesson plans, assignments, and resources to allow the course to be adapted to different environments.

There is no cost for the meetings, which are open to educators in grades 7 to 12 and community college. They will take place daily via Zoom from July 27 to Aug. 6. Register here.

"Working together, we can ensure all students are ready for a future without boundaries," Clarke said.

Additional resources are available for CTE distance learning.
