Lena Poplin-Viramontes enjoys a good challenge, especially when it involves creative thinking.
The administrative assistant has been with the San Diego County Office of Education (SDOCE) for more than three years and recently joined the Innovation division as part of the Career Pathways team. Because of her hard work and dedication, she was named SDCOE's Classified Employee of the Month for March 2019.
"Lena goes above and beyond her scope of work on a daily basis," said Margie de Ruyter, a coordinator with the Career Pathways team. "Her customer service skills are off the chart. She is always professional and represents SDCOE in the most positive manner."
Poplin-Viramontes said she's thankful for the support and talent of her co-workers.
When she's not working, she spends most of her time with her three teenage children.
"Free time? What's that?" she joked. "I have three very active teens, so I guess my free time is spending it with them. Whether it's a sporting event or taking college tours, it's just being able to be with them."
