Renee Corona has been an instructional aide at the San Diego County Office of Education for more than 15 years, the last seven of which she has supported students and teachers at San Diego SOAR Academy’s East Mesa site.
She works hard, is a natural leader, keeps positive, and has remained as involved as possible even while students are learning remotely, her colleagues said.
“Mrs. Corona’s work performance goes above and beyond by taking charge of aspects of day-to-day classroom and administrative duties, giving me more time to focus on instruction,” said Matt Kruger, a teacher at the site. “She is simply a delight to work with.”
Her can-do attitude contributes to a positive and productive work environment at the school, Principal Nathan Head said.
“She is an intricate part of the team that works vigorously to make sure our educational staff have the resources they need for our students to be successful,” Head said. “Her strong work ethic is an example of her professionalism and commitment to the school’s mission.”
Her leadership with student assessments helps the rest of the educational staff there make informed decisions about students’ needs, said Mimi Seney, head teacher at the school.
