This is the last week to register for the San Diego County Office of Education's (SDCOE) first MESI Symposium.
The symposium will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25 at the future home of the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park. The focus is on MESI – making, entrepreneurship, STEAM, and inventing – with hands-on opportunities for teachers to collaborate and network.
Sessions will focus on topics such as design thinking, sustainability, arts, math, makerspaces, 3D printing, and more.
"Everyone has different tastes, interests, preferences, and learning styles and needs," said Dr. Erin English, executive director of innovation for SDCOE. "In order to assist our educators in reaching all learners' unique needs, SDCOE's Innovation division is offering workshops addressing experiential learning, creating, exploring, and inventing."
The #GetMESI initiative explores ways to integrate and apply learning, develop skills, and build connections between the classroom and the world beyond.
"Giving students the opportunity to #GetMESI is a great way to prepare them to build the skills and creative mindset needed to find a career they will be passionate about in our innovation economy," said Jewyl Clarke, integrated curriculum coordinator for SDCOE.
