As California remodels our education system to better serve all students, family engagement is more important than ever before. That's why thousands of parents, educators, administrators and children's advocates from across the state have gathered in San Diego to support student success at the California State PTA's 117th Annual Convention. The convention, May 4 through 7 at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center, will address education, health and community issues affecting California's children and families.
In addition to showcasing arts-education speakers and events as part of the conference registration, the Friday, May 6, convention program will feature several free activities for the public that do not require registration, including:
- Admission to two exhibit halls featuring more than 150 sponsors and exhibitors showcasing a wide variety of products and services
- Reflections Art Program display celebrating award-winning arts achievements of children from all over California
- Hands-on education and arts projects
- Sidewalk-chalk activity
"Parents know: The arts matter -- that's why parents and PTA members consistently rate arts education as a priority," said California State PTA President Justine Fischer. "California State PTA continues to advocate for a complete education that includes the arts for every child."
