The San Diego County Office of Education's (SDCOE) Early Education Programs and Services team is hosting two information sessions in July for early care providers and educators interested in having their agency become a part of the San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative (QPI) and its Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).
The sessions are free and will be held at the SDCOE main campus at 6401 Linda Vista Road, San Diego 92111. Register here for the July 11 session from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Room 306. Register here for the July 12 session from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Room 305.
QRIS is a systemic approach to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality in early childhood education and care programs, such as center-based preschools, infant-toddler programs, and family child-care programs. Much like rating systems for restaurants and hotels, QRIS assigns quality ratings to early care and education programs that achieve a set of defined program standards. By participating in local QRIS, early care providers embark on a path of continuous quality improvement.
The information sessions are open to center directors, administrators, and family child care providers interested in becoming part of San Diego QPI. Participants will learn about the options for participation and the elements of the rating system.
