Human resources representatives from various districts will be available to answer recruiting and hiring questions from participants. University teacher preparation programs will also be available to answer questions and help with enrollment.
Topics will include:
- Classroom management
- Instructional strategies
- Legal requirements
- Emergency curriculum
- Job search
- Special education assignments
- Working with paraprofessionals
Anybody with a bachelor's degree and fingerprint clearance who has passed the online California Basic Educational Skills Test can work as a substitute teacher. Participants are encouraged to have those pre-requisites completed before the event. Career changers, recent graduates from any degree, paraprofessionals, and parents are all potential attendees.
Registration is open now for the event, which will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Escondido Union Elementary School District at 2310 Aldergrove Ave. in Escondido.
