Tierrasanta Elementary School Teacher Named Classroom Hero

Tierrasanta Elementary School (San Diego Unified School District) teacher Carolyn Iglesias was recognized in September through the San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®) Classroom Heroes program.

Iglesias was nominated for the award by multiple parents and employees at Tierrasanta Elementary. One wrote, "I have never seen students so enamored and respecting of a teacher than Mrs. Iglesias' students. They literally hang on her every word and know that she values and respects each of them as human beings and academic scholars. Even the most challenging students do well in Mrs. Iglesias' class because she treats them as worthy and holds them to high expectations which they rise to meet. Not only does Mrs. Iglesias meet the social emotional needs of all of her students, she also excels at meeting their academic needs. She knows each individual learner and differentiates her teaching to ensure every student is successful."

SDCCU®, San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, proudly honors local teachers through SDCCU Classroom Heroes, launched in partnership with ABC 10News and iHeartMedia, Inc. San Diego. Winning teachers will be featured on a segment on ABC 10News, receive a $500 SDCCU Visa® gift card and one 2018 winner will win a new Toyota Prius®.

Teachers, students, parents and the community are encouraged to nominate a deserving teacher by visiting sdccu.com/classroomheroes.
