Cymer and the CIF San Diego Section have announced the top-achieving winter athletic teams in the San Diego Section, along with the highest-achieving athlete on each of the honored teams.
The CIF All Academic Teams honor the school teams in each sport and region with the highest, combined, unweighted grade point average. From each of those teams, Cymer honors the junior or senior with the highest, cumulative, weighted high school grade point average. Those students are known as Cymer Scholars.
More than 400 male and female athletes comprise the honored teams, in the sports of basketball, soccer, wrestling and girls water polo. The five regions of the San Diego Section are north, south, metro, east and inland/Imperial.
"These are some of the very finest young people in our community," said CIF San Diego Section Commissioner Jerry Schniepp. "They should be very proud, and their coaches, teachers and families should be proud, too. We also want to thank Cymer for their generous support. We're very fortunate to have a partner like Cymer, which shares our goal of honoring high-achieving student/athletes."
"Cymer is proud to continue to support the academic achievements of the top-performing student/athletes and teams in the CIF San Diego Section, and we especially applaud the Winter Cymer Scholars who have achieved the highest cumulative GPA on their team. Their competitive spirits and passion for academic excellence will enable these scholars to continue to contribute as professionals into the future," said Ed Brown CEO of Cymer.
