Fostering Global Curiosity Through Multilingual Education: A Professional Learning Workshop on the Global Competence Framework

Multilingual education holds a unique opportunity to nurture curiosity and awareness about the world, building towards international collaboration and understanding. This workshop is designed to develop the capacity of educators to strengthen the global competencies of students through specific integration of four domains:

• Investigate the world beyond their immediate environment, framing significant problems and conducting well-crafted and age-appropriate research
• Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, building interpersonal competencies in order to bridge linguistic, ideological, and cultural barriers
• Recognize perspectives others’ and their own, to develop cross-cultural understanding
• Take action to improve conditions, seeing themselves as having agency in the world
