Welcome to Davila Day School

As a special education school located in Chula Vista, Davila Day School, operated by the South County SELPA, serves preschool through eighth-grade students from schools across San Diego County. Our mission is to provide Deaf and hard-of-hearing students with a comprehensive, fully accessible and language-rich learning environment, help them reach their goals and offer opportunities to reach their full potential.

Enrolling at Davila Day School

Students can enroll at Davila Day School after the district of residence IEP team has agreed on placement at the school. Once placement occurs, parents must bring to following to enroll their child:

Child's immunization records
Photo identification (e.g., driver's license)
Proof of residence, two forms, such as:
- Title or escrow papers, mortgage book or statement, or homeowner’s association fees statement
- Lease agreement or rental contract with landlord’s name, address and telephone number and current rent receipt
- Letter on apartment complex or mobile home park letterhead, signed by the landlord, stating that the parent/guardian/caregiver lives there (mandatory with 2nd Family Affidavit)
- Utility bill: gas and electric, water, cable TV, sewer, or waste disposal bill (telephone bills are NOT acceptable; past due or disconnection notices are NOT acceptable)
- Verification of Social Services (SSI, AFDC, Medi-Cal)

Uniform Complaint Procedures

The San Diego County Superintendent of Schools has the primary responsibility for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. We have established Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) to address allegations of unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying, and complaints alleging violation of state or federal laws governing educational programs, the charging of unlawful pupil fees and the non-compliance of our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

School Dress Code

At Davila Day School, we are committed to maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. As part of this commitment, we adhere to the school rules and dress code of our host campus, Vista Square Elementary. We encourage all students and families to review and follow these guidelines to ensure consistency and respect within our shared school community.

School Uniform/Uniformes Escolares

School uniforms are encouraged but not mandatory. Our school colors as far as shirts are red, navy blue, and white. For bottoms, students may wear pants, shorts or skirts color khaki, black, denim, or navy blue.

Skirts and shorts must have a modest length not shorter than mid thigh. Strapless, halter, see through, or spaghetti straps tops are not acceptable. Any clothes with profane, vulgar, or inappropriate writing or imagery are strictly prohibited.

To avoid items such as jackets, backpacks, and lunch bags from getting lost, make sure that your child's name or initials are somewhere visible. Please view our Parent and Student Handbook to view specifics.

El uso de uniformes escolares es alentado pero NO ES OBLIGATORIO. Los colores escolares en cuanto a camisetas son rojo, blanco y azul marino. Pantalones, faldas o shorts deben ser en color khaki, negro, azul marino o mezclilla.

Faldas y shorts deben de ser de un largo modesto que llegue mínimo a altura de la mitad del muslo. Camisetas o blusas de estilo strapless, halter, translucido, y/o tirantes delgados no son aceptables. Cualquier vestimenta con imágenes o tipografía vulgar, profano o inapropiado está estrictamente prohibido.

Para evitar extravíos de articulos como chamarras, mochilas o loncheras, le recomendamos poner el nombre o las iniciales de su estudiante en algun lugar visible. Ver el Reglamento Oficial para ver otras especificaciones.

Note: Davila Day School is on the campus of Vista Square Elementary. The building is located on the corner of Smith and G streets. The entrance to the school is behind the school, off of Smith Ave and the staff parking lot/bus zone.
