Summer Camps

LVIS Summer Camp Create, design, and explore all summer long

The LVIC fun doesn’t stop when the school year ends! Join us for a special series of summer camps at the Linda Vista Innovation Center. Led by credentialed educators, students will dive into some of the most popular hands-on activities, along with some brand new experiences during these innovative week-long camps. Camp Details

  • Camps will take place at the San Diego County Office of Education’s centrally-located Linda Vista Innovation Center (2202 Comstock Street, San Diego, CA 92111). 
  • Camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are designed for rising 6th through 10th graders. 
  • All camps led by certificated educators

Camp Schedule

Esports Camp

June 22 -26
Grade Level: 6th-10th
Cost: $500

Level up your summer at our 5-day Esports Camp, where gaming meets teamwork, creativity, and wellness! Campers will enjoy a variety of fun games—from popular video games to classic group games and Wii favorites—while learning how to be positive, friendly gamers. Alongside the action, students will explore healthy habits for players, including proper nutrition and smart ways to take care of their bodies during gaming. It’s the perfect mix of play, learning, and summer excitement!

Drone Camp

June 29 - July 2
Grade Level: 6th-10th grade 
Cost: $450

In this camp, students will explore the many facets of drone technology. We’ll start the week flying and coding indoor drones to navigate an obstacle course and simulate search and rescue operations. Mid-week, students will go off site to film drone footage outside at a nearby beach or park, then bring it back to the lab for a lesson on video editing, and walk away with their own drone video. Throughout the week, we’ll hear from drone pilots, explore drone career pathways, and work toward passing the TRUST Drone Safety Certification exam.

ReUse Culture Camp

July 6-10
Grade Level: 6th-10th grade
Cost: $500

A hands-on summer camp where students discover the power of upcycling and creative sustainability. Over five fun-filled days, campers will give new life to old clothing and everyday material. Items will be transformed into fresh, functional, and stylish creations. From customizing outfits to repurposing gadgets, students will learn practical skills, eco-friendly practices, and innovative ways to reduce waste. Make what is old new again.

Costume Design Camp

July 13-17
Grade Level: 6th-10th grade
Cost: $500

Students will dive into the colorful world of character and holiday design as they create their own costume elements for Comic Con, school plays, or their favorite celebrations. From concept sketches to hands-on crafting, campers will explore fabrics, props, accessories, and more while learning fun techniques to bring their ideas to life. Whether they dream of superheroes, fantasy creatures, or festive holiday looks, this camp is the perfect place to imagine, design, and create.

Culinary Camp

July 13-17
Grade Level: 6th-10th grade

Get ready to mix it up! This summer, aspiring chefs will dive into the fast-paced world of culinary challenges, where creativity, teamwork, and smart food prep take center stage. In this five-day culinary camp, students will chop, mix, assemble, and compete while exploring flavors from around the world and building essential kitchen skills. Teams will tackle hands-on challenges that test their innovation, presentation, and collaboration using fresh, cold ingredients. Campers will also explore the business side of food, learning how chefs turn simple ideas into successful, money-making concepts. The week culminates in a culinary showcase where teams design and present a signature food cart featuring a unique cold menu item, competing head-to-head for the most creative concept and standout dish.

Family Camp for Littles

July 20-22 (3-day camp, 9 a.m. to noon only)
Grade Level: TK-1st grade plus a parent/grandparent
Cost: $250

Family camp is a fun way to spend some quality time with your little one over the summer break! In these half-day sessions, littles ones (4-6 years old) will be joined by a grown up in their life (parents or grandparents) to engage in STEM challenges together. Every day will involve a project that they can take home, as well as resources for caregivers to engage with your little long after camp ends. You can sign up for one day or join us for all three!

Amplifying Community and Identity Through Art Camp

July 20-24
Grade Level: 6th-10th grade
Cost: $500

Students will spend a week creating art that lifts up the people, places, and identities that make our communities unique. Through workshops, field trips, and art projects, students will explore real stories of community and justice. Students will share their own stories and turn them into creative projects that inspire and spark conversation. We will also meet creative leaders and changemakers and learn how people use art to bring attention to the issues that matter to them. This is a hands-on, expressive, and fun week all about understanding each other better and sharing the stories that matter most.
