The San Diego County Office of Education's annual conference is designed for educators, community leaders, parents, students, advocates, and policymakers to grow education equity for every young person in our schools.

Equity Conference 2024: Equity is Love in Action

Join hundreds of educators, parents, students, policymakers, advocates, and community members to advance educational equity for all students at the 2024 Equity Conference.

The Equity Conference will be an opportunity to grow and learn as we work to make our campuses safe spaces for all students, staff members, and families, where they feel honored and valued.

Keynote and Featured Speakers

The Equity Conference brings together renowned speakers in the world of education and equity with varied backgrounds and perspectives. Conference attendees will leave with new insights and inspiration to take back to their school or site. 

 

 

Dr. Donyall Dickey 

Donyall D. Dickey, Ed.D. is a nationally recognized authority on curriculum, instruction, organizational development, and district improvement. Unparalleled levels of student achievement and school improvement distinguish Dr. Dickey's 20+ year career as an educational leader. Dr. Dickey is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Loyola University-Maryland, and George Washington University-D.C., where he earned a doctorate in educational leadership and policy. 

After a decade of successful site-based leadership, Dr. Dickey served as assistant superintendent and chief academic officer of the nation's eighth largest school district and later as chief schools officer and chief academic officer of a prominent school district in the Southeast.

Currently, as the chief executive officer and lead consultant for Educational Epiphany, Dr. Dickey and his national consulting team is in partnership with urban, suburban, and rural school districts in 40+ states across the nation.

​​Michelle MiJung Kim

Michelle MiJung Kim (she/her) is a queer Korean American immigrant woman writer, speaker, and activist. She is the award winning author of The Wake Up: Closing the Gap Between Good Intentions and Real Change and co-founder of Awaken, where she has consulted hundreds of organizations and leaders on their equity journey. Michelle has been a lifelong social justice activist and currently serves on the board of Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality (AACRE). Her work has appeared on world-renowned platforms such as Harvard Business Review and The New York Times, and she was named LinkedIn’s Top Voice in Racial Equity, Fast Company’s Queer 50, and Medium’s Top Writer in Diversity. She lives in Oakland, California.
