Initiatives and Projects
The Local Child Care and Development Planning Council (LPC) of San Diego County leads and supports several countywide initiatives designed to strengthen early learning and care across San Diego County. These projects reflect our commitment to collaboration, data-informed planning, and alignment with community priorities. Our initiatives connect directly to the Child Care Blueprint Implementation Plan, the LPC Needs Assessment, the LPC Public Policy Platform, San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) North Star, and County of San Diego HHSA Strategic Plan. All of which support children, families, and providers.

Child Care Blueprint in Motion
The Child Care Blueprint in Motion brings partners together across San Diego County to create a coordinated early learning and care system that supports families, educators, and communities. Developed through extensive community engagement, the Blueprint outlines a shared vision and actionable strategies for strengthening access, quality, workforce pathways, and system alignment.
Core Blueprint Goals
- The child care workforce is well-trained, supported, valued as a profession, and paid competitive wages.
- Safe and quality facilities are developed and renovated to expand child care programs, particularly in geographic areas where child care is scarce or family demand outpaces supply.
- All families have access to child care that meets their needs and preferences and supports their children’s learning, physical and mental health, and social-emotional development.
