Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
Who are we?
The East County Community Advisory Committee is a partnership of parents, educators, and community members from 11 East County local educational agencies working together to promote effective special education programs.

What do we do?
The primary functions of the CAC are to:
- Advise the SELPA on the local plan.
- Assist in raising awareness with parents about the importance of regular school attendance
- Support and provide parent education
How can I become a member?
CAC members are appointed by their local school board. Each district/LEA has their own process to bring forward candidates to their board by approval. Please contact your district/LEA's special education department if you are interested in learning more.
2026-27 Meeting Dates and Agendas
CAC meetings are held either at the East County SELPA Office, 924 East Main St., El Cajon or virtually. Business meetings begin at 6 p.m. In 2026-27, meetings will be held on:

Community Advisory Committee Awards
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Awards are an annual recognition honoring individuals from each of the 11 East County school districts who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service in support of special education. These awards celebrate one outstanding individual per district who has gone above and beyond to advocate for students with disabilities, support families, and strengthen special education programs across East County.
