Alternative Dispute Resolution

South County SELPA offers conflict resolution related to special education concerns, compliance, evaluation, identification, and placement issues for families and districts. Disputes between parents of Special Education students and South County School Districts can often be resolved by providing suggestions and options to avoid state mediations, due process hearings, and/or compliance complaints.

The South County SELPA Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program supports parents and districts through their conflict resolution efforts. The ADR Program provides free trainings and workshops for parents and school staff, parent to parent support, Individualized Education Program (IEP) attendance, on-going coaching and consulting, facilitated and co-facilitated IEP meetings, resolution meetings, and early dispute resolution (EDR) mediation. All services are free and available to families from our member districts.
