Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a team of parents and other individuals with a personal or professional interest in securing appropriate services for students with special needs.
The mission of our CAC is to involve interested parents, students, teachers and education specialists in establishing a networking.

Our vision is to encourage parents to actively participate in becoming knowledgeable, empowered, and effective partners in the development and implementation of learning experiences for students with exceptional needs.
The goal of the CAC is to work with families to:
- Provide a support group for parents and students
- Provide an opportunity to talk with professionals who work with children with special needs
- Increase awareness of available service options
- Increase awareness of the importance of regular school attendance
- Encourage community involvement in the development and review of the local plan special education
- Provide parent education
- Support activities on behalf of children with special needs
- Provide an open forum for discussion, committee reports, and guest speakers through CAC informational presentations.

The South County SELPA is currently seeking members to join the CAC. Would you like to join a collaborative team of parents, educators, and individuals with a personal or professional interest in establishing a network between the SELPA, LEAs, schools, and the community? This work is achieved through collaboration with parents, students, educators, and other community agencies.
To join the CAC, please contact your school district student services/special education department. The members of the CAC are appointed by the local school district governing boards to represent the districts. Please review the CAC Bylaws (PDF) and our CAC Flyer (PDF) for additional information. Members of the public are always welcome to attend CAC meetings and events and give input.
