The Student Attendance, Safety, and Well-Being unit offers professional development trainings on restorative practices to schools, districts, and community agencies. Staff are trained in the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP) model and are able to provide a certificate of attendance for those who complete the training.
Day One of the training is "Introduction to Restorative Practices" and is a prerequisite to Day Two, which is "Using Circles Effectively." We strongly recommend that participants participate in both days.

After attending the above two-day training you are eligible to attend the two-day Restorative conferencing training that prepares school staff to respond to significant harm done by students. Participants will learn how to organize and facilitate a Restorative Conference that holds students accountable for their actions while helping to restore them back to their school community.

Any person trained in Restorative Practices is encouraged to participate in monthly Restorative Practices Collaborative Meetings at SDCOE (Typically held the third Wednesday of each month). Educators trained in Restorative Practices are also encouraged to join the SDCOE Restorative Practices List Serve managed by Anthony Ceja.
