Dr. Lavar Watkins

Dr. Watkins is a California credentialed head counselor, university professor, California associate professional clinical counselor (associate therapist), head track and field|cross country coach, and president and CEO, LKW STEM Foundation.

The LKW STEM Foundation’s purpose is to create, develop, and deliver stimulating “STEM” educational programs, cultivating “STEM” experiences and invigorating “STEM” activities, workshops, and camps for diverse, multicultural, historically underrepresented, and disadvantaged populations. Through “STEM” concepts; students will discover and ignite a passion to pursue any and all things “STEM” in an environment where “STEM” exploration, innovation, and critical-thinking is implemented through interactive engagement, project-based learning, and real-world applications that are designed to foster and equip a growth mindset in “STEM Education” within the context of a global perspective. Their motto is: Let’s Change the World… 1 STEMtastical Experience at a Time! 

He has earned degrees, credentials and certifications in Workforce Education & Development, Educational Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Educational Administration, Educational Technology, Teaching, Curriculum and Instruction, K-12 Pupil Personnel Services, K-12 Administrative Services, Child Welfare Services & Attendance, and his Associate Professional Clinical Counseling License. He has attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, National University, UCSD, UCLA, Concordia University-Irvine, Liberty University and Rockhurst University. He is an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Navy. Dr. Lavar J. Watkins created LKW STEM Foundation with his Queen, Kristina H. Watkins.
