Linda Doughty

Linda Doughty joined the San Diego and Imperial Counties Cal-SOAP in 1994. 

Over the years she has been a champion in the area of student success in K-16 and pipeline building initiatives. As the Director of the California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP), she has led of team of 8 professionals and over 70 College Readiness Coaches who work in 49 high schools in San Diego and Imperial Counties that serve 10,000 low income, first generation students in grades 7th-12th grades on college and career readiness and has been instrumental in providing comprehensive mentoring, outreach, and supportive services to students and their families, providing information and increasing re financial aid completion, encouraging student enrollment in rigorous and challenging curricula and coursework, in order to reduce the need for remedial coursework at the postsecondary level; and collecting and analyzing data to improve the quality of the program and to prove outreach impact of program. She works collaboratively with many units and departments and college partners to bring educational programs to school districts, schools and into the community. 

She is a member of the UC Community Based Organization, serves as the Chair of the Black Advisory Board at the San Diego County of Education, and Co-chair of the Association of African American Educators, and chair of the CAPP Board She also oversees the Cal-SOAP Board that brings a collaboration of 24 educational partners together to examine higher education issues and provide programs and activities to serve two counties and was named the 2024 Community Based Organization of the Year for San Diego County.
