PASS AmeriCorps
The PASS (Promoting Achievement and Student Success) AmeriCorps Program serves students in grades 3 through 12 at 31 school sites across San Diego County, including campuses in San Diego, Oceanside, Vista, Escondido, Valley Center, and Carlsbad.
Each PASS AmeriCorps member provides support for 30 targeted students through individual and group mentoring, academic support, grades and attendance reviews, leadership development, guest speakers, service learning projects, and parent outreach. Through their service with PASS, our AmeriCorps members are able to create positive change in our schools and communities.
Our PASS AmeriCorps members support the character development of their students and encourage them to become positive leaders in their school communities. The mentors focus on numerous life-skills topics with their students, including:
- College and Career Readiness
- Social and Communication Skills
- Conflict Resolution
- Critical Thinking and Decision-Making
- Anger and Stress Management
- Substance Abuse Prevention
- Gang and Violence Prevention and Intervention
- Anti-Bullying/Cyberbullying
- Healthy Relationships
- Body Image and Self-Esteem
- Coping Skills and Self-Care
