Whole Child and Community Design
Whole Child and Community Design is a commitment to honoring diverse voices, leveraging community relationships, and ensuring the well-being and success of every child. SDCOE operates one of eight regional technical assistance centers that will support local LEAs with the complexities of community schools planning, implementation, capacity building, and organization, and help districts implement culturally relevant practices and build equitable systems that create conditions for all members of the school community to thrive.
SDCOE is also recognized as a California Regional Technical Assistance Center for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and is committed to providing professional development for districts and sites with implementing PBIS in accordance with the National Center on PBIS and the California MTSS Framework.

Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a framework that aligns Response to Instruction and Intervention with the California State standards and the systems necessary to ensure academic, behavior, and social success.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a process for creating school environments that are more predictable and effective for achieving academic and social goals.
Restorative Practices
Restorative practices provide schools with a framework to build community, strengthen relationships and improve school climate. This approach can be seamlessly integrated into the classroom, state standards-aligned curriculum, and a school's culture and climate.
School Social Work
Through SDCOE’s School Social Work Services program, you can network with other school social workers, find professional learning opportunities, and gain valuable resources for you, your students, and your colleagues.
Transformative Social and Emotional Learning
Transformative SEL provide schools with practices to improve adult and student well-being, academic achievement, long-term success based on developmental science.
Community Engagement Initiative
As part of the statewide System of Support, SDCOE serves as a lead agency partner of the Community Engagement Initiative 2.0, supporting the work of districts as they improve student outcomes through relationships and community partnerships.
